This is Iranian Calligraphy mixed with miniature. Some gifts from an Iranian to you all..
Poem is by Rumi: “Attar roamed the seven cities of love.. We are still just in one alley.”

I am really amazed with Aafke and her art works, i dedicated this last art work to her beautiful soul. She is in love with horses and paints them.
The artist: Hossein Mahjoubi
I hope you liked the collection and Aafke also enjoyed her esp gifts. Let me know what you feel while watching these art works. Sincerely..
-Shahrzad-

I always felt that if i were created a tree I would be Palm Tree and if created an animal I would be a Wild Free Horse .. no wonder I am always attracted to artistic manipulation of horses.. what a beautiful anima..
The Arabic letters are so beautiful, they tend to talk if you care to listen to them with your eyes..
Nice relaxing pictures; thank you..

wow, I love the tree! Beautiful!
Oh btw Shahrzad I had the pleasure of accompanying a lovely Iranian woman today to a work related conference who will be working alongside me and my company in a few weeks time on placement.
We spoke about Iran (she’s from Tehran btw!) and she’s well travelled, she asked my opinion about the Shariah law debaucle, about gender based persecution (since thats one of the fields I work on) amongst a myriad of other things. Fascinating lady Mash’Allah

Alhamdulillah! Really beautiful and inspiring. It is in our awareness of beauty that the signs of Allah are most present, around us and within us.
Ya Haqq!

I love the tree and the horses. (naturally) Thanks for posting this.
It is such a coïncidence: when I was reading your post there was the most beautiful song on the radio from an Iranian singer Azam Ali I think it was called spring arise.
I completely agree with Irving.

Achelois, وحید , Organica, Leila, Zios, Thank you
Xavier, beautiful sense you exposed. I dont know, maybe i would like to be a horse too. But about plant, i liked to be a water lily.
This style of calligraphy is especially for Iran. They call the style as “Naste’aliq” and the other one is “Shekasteh Naste’aliq”. I do Naste’aligh with ink and Ghalam and pen. But i can do “Shekasteh Naste’aliq” just with pen only. Maybe i share mine too, someday..
johnnypeepers, swords are created by western Propaganda Media! Not Iranians!
Sumera, Waw, so you noticed iranian women are usually talkative. I liked that you enjoyed your time with her.
I hope you reminded of me by meeting her, or maybe i am very arrogant to be fascinating like her
~W~, Did you ever tried Iranian carpets? Amazing indead.
Irving, how true.
Aafke, I am happy you loved them. There are other artworks on horses too. Am sure you checked them anyway.
Azam Ali was born in Tehran, Iran and grew up in India from the age of four. Yet i just tried her songs once. Since now I will go for more.
‘liya, Welcome

Persian paintings are by far my favorite, and Rumi is my favorite poet of all time.
Azam Ali is amazing by the way. She has a new “Niyaz” album coming out called “Nine Heavens”. I miss her “Vas” albums, where she would sing in a made-up language, but I still enjoy her recent work.
Nice blog : )

The art is beautiful. I could look at calligraphy all day and never get tired of it. In fact, the longer I look at it, the more beautiful it becomes. The blue one (at the top of your post) reminds me of a magnificent painting hanging in the women’s cafeteria of King Faisal Hospital and Research Center, in Riyadh, where I used to work. I wish I could learn how to do this art. Maybe after I retire, insha’Allah…
I’m enoying your blog, having recently discovered the blogosphere and all the wonderful people keeping blogs.

Broken Mystic, Thank you. I have go for Azam Ali more than before.
marahm, Thank you for your nice words. I like the blue one too and esp its poem.
For learning Calligraphy, you must practice so much. It just need to be practiced always.

Mahjoubi’s tree is really dream-like, how is it that Iranians have a way of viewing the world that is particular to them?
Thanks for the post
