The other day, resting on the bed in the hospital, a non-muslim grandpa turned his face to his muslim grandchild who was in the room and said: “Tell me about your God, Allah!”
Muslim grandchild looked at the window. The little curtain could not cover that narrow line of light blinking in the room. It was a sunny day, indeed: “My God is one same as yours. He loves you like he loves me, he is inside you and inside me, he is the good in you and he is anti bad.”
Then slowly came near grandpa’s bed and continued: “You can know him on your own. He is the answer to all what bothers you.”
Grandpa said: “What about all what his followers do? How can you be a good father and your children are so bad?”
Grandchild smiled: “Am i bad? And are you sure those are really his children? Not the children of the devil, bastards?”
Grandpa smiled too. He held his grandchild’s hand and said:” You are a good boy, I trust you.” At the same time he slowly closed his eyes and slept..

I like this. In my own interpretation of your story, he accepts Islam in his own unique way before he passes away calmly.

As Salaamu ALaikum:
What a heartwarming story. It reminded me of when my mother was on her death bed as well. I really wanted her to take shahada but it just did not happen. I guess it is true that ALlah knows his creation very well.
thanks for the sharing

Sometimes we muslims are worse than curtains who cover the sun, and don’t let others to see its beauty..

But you’re not one of them: not only do you let me see the sun; you also let me feel it’s warm rays.

Exactly. That’s what I have been trying to tell people. I was brought up Christian and I live in an area that is primarily Christian and most of the people I know are Christian. But I read, and I have been trying to tell people that TRUE Muslims believe that the Prophet of Islam believed that Al-Lah was the same God that Moses had been visited by. People have forgotten and we have split. We are all one people.

we don’t need any supernatural to know that we are one!
isn’t it the idea of a god that splits so many people up…?
there’s so much more than hell and heaven, good and bad, on this planet. life and beauty, it happens inbetween the extremes…
and to spread and live love is just a personal choice, not a duty!
