No “Shine” With Female Yahoo!

yahooshine.jpg“Madonna is back!” It is the top news of Yahoo!Shine, new section in Yahoo which is assumed to be just for women.
Shine’s Editor says: “You can count on us to bring attitude and personality, and find humor in almost every topic we cover, whether it’s a post on men who wear skinny jeans, how you can get back into your skinny jeans, or whether you’ll be taken seriously if you wear jeans to work.”

Well, jeans, then?

At the time i read the news of Yahoo!Shine, i had no idea about it. Discussing women in a “separated” space doesnt make me very excited. I do not like borders. That’s why i can not understand feminism.

I always believe that a woman should be considered as a human. With her especial abilities and potentials. When there is a humanistic look toward women, no need to make a separated space -for example- in Yahoo site for them. For their issues have to be discussed, the same place as men’s issues.

But it does not mean i was not curious about it. The monday they announced the new section, i jumped on Yahoo site to see what this new especial space will bring for women. And unfortunately it didn’t gratify my desires.

http://graphics.boston.com/resize/bonzai-fba/Reuters_Photo/2008/03/31/1206942161_5333/539w.jpgThe first point, Yahoo!Shine doesnt have any real content. The massive font also looks unprofessional, and doesnt please eyes. They (rarely) use these kind of tricks in newspapers to compensate for lack of content.

It does not seem that Shine offers anything new, not already available on sites like MSN. I personally assume most of these articles on sites like Yahoo! and MSN are to drive ad sales. I felt i am not really that person who come back and check it again.

It happens that i listen to different kinds of music, but i also believe a singer like Madonna or Britney Spears can not be a role model for women, nor is fashion and beauty women’s major concern. Maybe about parenting and working, i could still count on Shine as a source. But after checking out the articles, i realized that i can get many more usefull information from other sites like parents.com.

Women want a space to deal with their mind for making a better world. Around the world, Women see ugly, frightening faces which oppose humanity. She sees that they are in contradiction to the spiritual, the rational, the human. They are against women and the human reverence of women.

I dont say the one who can do something and play an active role for women, is the traditional woman who is asleep in her quiet, tame, ancient mould but nor is it the new woman who is a modern doll who allows herself be used by the marketing machines and be sexually exploited to attract the men buyers.

Today’s Women neither want to remain as this, nor become that. They can not surrender themselves to whatever was and is, without their own will and choice playing a role.

I realized that Yahoo!Shine doesnt do anything new for women. Shine assumes women as some mindless creatures, without sensitivities, without knowledge, without pain and without understanding.

It humiliates women as people who are just concerned about fashion, beauty, sex, money and diet. Women are supposed not to be engaged with serious issues in the society and based on Shine, they “shine” just when they follow those “nominated” subjecs.

It makes Shine like gossip sites. It is not getting any play on Yahoo’s main site either. And i think the editor should look back and try to fill his/her page with something which deal with shining “brainy” women.

    Go Shah, go Shah! :)

Women definitely do not need another celebrity gossip/ fashion mag/ how to lose your belly fat in time for Summer/ blah blah blah website!

  2. Aafke Says:

I do need to lose my belly-fat for the summer,
and the rest of my life!!!!!
Madonna and Britney Spears as the exemplary examples of an intelligent, deep, musical experience.
Need one know more about the intellectual level of this new venture?

Oh, yes: Madonna, and especially Britney, have always been my rolemodel for classy dress-sence and responsible behaviour!

Yes Shah! This is part of a conspiracy to keep women in their ”proper place” Solely concerned with diet, looks, fashion, superfial stupid music, sex, money, and triviality.

    Shahrzad,
Good article! I like your view about feminism and believe the same: “I always believe that a woman should be considered as a human. When there is a humanistic look toward women, no need to make a separated space…”.

  4. Shahrzad Says:

I too agree this is part of a conspiracy. The only and fastest way to damage a nation, is spoilting their women and make them some stipid idiots. Bcs women are the base of the family and they are who behave children.
A stupid mom can easily produce stupid mindless children, who can be better followers of satanic leaders of the world..

  5. Haleem Says:

I dont understand the idea how some people (including women!) have the idea that Britney or Paris Hilton is a role model.

Role model? WHo are they kidding. May be Angelina Jolie.. but even then …

Yahoo Shine just looks like a typical temporary measure for some advertisement cash grab!

  6. Xavier Says:

well since i had been boycotting your blog this article tempts me to come back, you are right here; as the human historical experience had brought the world to realise that a woman is an opposite polarity equal to man {if man is negative woman is positive), world social norms are giving women the respect they deserve away from the stereotype of being weak and needy of provision and a sexual liability.. etc ; one notices how the world mass media army insists to keeping women in the back pocket of men, making them busy with feminine issues and worst of all; remain entertaining sexual objects.
Shame on you Yahoo; now look how a smart lady like Aafke feels obliged to torture her belly to make it lose its fat for the summer.. :)

SSpears with an IQ of a chicken and her likes are being boosted to the front as female role models so that women would never ever be equal to men, once a woman realise that sex is not an open commodity to prove her worthness, and women start channelling their energy away from their already naturally attractive physique, and realise that a real man will only respect her more for being modest and less naked as she proves her mental equality.

“A stupid mom can easily produce stupid mindless children, who can be better followers of satanic leaders of the world..”

I could not have put it better. The basis of humanity is predicated on the complimentary traits that men and women bring to each other. The Satanists, Elites, Globalists have tried for many years to break down the family structure. By making men addicted to empty lustful images (porn), and by pushing the feminist agenda, they seek to create two competing camps of man and woman.

In the U.S., feminism created for the elites to be able to tax the other half of the population. When a woman has to slave for pay, she cannot raise her child as the creator intended. The child is subjected to government indoctrination centers and dumbed down as you said.

Feminism claims it is about empowerment and equality. The effect is promoting anti-male attitudes and is detrimental to the fabric of society. Men and women should reject outside attempts to engineer their societies. Love is the controlling force that should guide us all.

  8. Aafke Says:

Shah, I’ve been thinking about this (while dutyfully doing my accounts) and actually I’m quite insulted by this.

Why is it that everytime something is ”female” the colours turn immediately pink and lilac, the content as flat as a piece of paper, and we are presented with ”role models” that just eminate imbicility, bad morals and weakness???

I consider myself the epitome of femininity, I love shoes, but I’m not stupid! And my role models have a bit more guts and intelligence as a couple of silly pop-singers.
Why should anybody automatically conclude that pop-singers are the ones women like to imitate?
Why do the designers think that girls only like pink and lilac?
Why do the editors of magazines take it for granted that I want to read shallow boring pieces on ”celebrities”?
I’ve never brought such a stupid magazine in my life!

But we do all want to please and to be liked, and to be loved. And if you just constantely, and eternally spread the insidious message that this idiotic level of insignificance should be our goal to be appreciated, then it is quite possible to brainwash entire female generations into believing that this is the only way we can be loved.

In my opinion this really is a kind of century-long conspiracy.

This reminds me of a passage in a Dutch novel from 1770, I just had a look but I’d have to re-read the novel to find the passage again, so from memory: The heroïne says: ” To be sure, we women are taught mainly music, elegant conversation, and needlework, but if those are the only accomplishments our men, who we wish to please, consider of value, don’t blame our intelligence for that! It is a reflection on theirs.”

  9. Aafke Says:

Just had a look at the site, and yes: Pink and lilac.
Perhaps i should change the look of my site, so people will stop thinking I’m a man!!!

  10. Claire Says:

Feminism is about considering women as human. It’s a common misconception that it’s about separating women from men. Feminists want equal legal rights, equal career opportunities, equal family opportunities and equal pay for all human beings regardless of their gender.

  11. DeEee Says:

You say, “That’s why i can not understand feminism,” then you go on with the rest of your post, which reads very much like feminism. Hmm. Yahoo! Shine is not feminist. It sounds like it is another outlet to perpetuate the negative stereotypes of women. It is not empowering or equalizing. It is only demeaning.

I think that you should define, or find a _real_ definition, of the term feminist. I was taught (and I hold to) this simple definition: Feminism is the belief that women are equal to men. Wanting equality is not asking for separatism. To say so would be the equivalent of saying that people of color want segregation! And we (people of color, that is) do NOT want segregation.

  12. Shahrzad Says:

DeEe, Unfortunately Feminism is not as simple as you described. It may at first was started for an equality, but later feminist women spoilt it badly. Now even they are confused to give “ONE” definition for it. For example, some of them are anti sex, some of them publicize freedom of sex, and many other confusions. Even there are Anti-feminist women who are still feminist too!! For a review, you can learn more about what i am saying here on Wiki:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feminism

  13. Aafke Says:

Ok I’m a feminist, and of the sort described by Claire
*Feminists want equal legal rights, equal career opportunities, equal family opportunities and equal pay for all human beings regardless of their gender.*

Anfd I like men very much. i have two at the moment, and I work very hard for them.

yahoo shine is a vehicle to get advertising dollars from the companies that market to women, ie clothes, shoes, fashion, cosmetics, etc. It is an online version of most women’s magazines. It is sad that they couldn’t come up with anything better than this.

    Ya Haqq!

  15. reneeabaker Says:

    RE: SHINE ON YAHOO
Madonna is still a “Dog” who “can’t act”. However–I hope “Shine” comes up with something better such as –Is Hillary-I-Ducked-My-Head-Down-Clinton about to bamboozle the American public and become the first female President of the United States?

    The ‘about’ page says:

When we started talking about creating a new website for women, we wanted to avoid all of the common categories that advertisers or marketers tend to put us in.

    Great job there, yahoo.

  17. live7n Says:

I had not read that. It múst have been first of April,
or they are just taking us for a ride for fun.
Or somebody at Yahoo is a schizophreniac!!!
Or they have so much disdain for our intelligence that they actually believe we’ll swallow that.

    I think it’s the last one…

  20. Achelois Says:

Oh but Shahe we can learn soooooooooooo much from Spears – how to shave your head and show your private parts in public; how to get drunk and drive with your baby in your lap – this is what every housewife muct do :D

    Shame Shine, Shame on you!

  21. Shahrzad Says:

Aafke, Oh, What would i do, if i didn’t have you. :)

    Achelois, Haha :D

  22. Xavier Says:

Show her private parts in public? Now this is relative, Spears with an IQ of chicken believes that her fans deserve to know the naked truth..
I just wonder who draws the limit to what and what not can be exhibited in public? topless is becoming the way to go for todays beach woman, string line bottomless bikini is more and more spreading, soon women will go crazy being all naked and nothing more to take off.. Why feminists do not fight this amongst their own gender before they march for real equality with men?
