A Year Of Blogging

http://www.crystal-fox.com/webart/products_large/2542.jpg

Today, oh yes, right today is exactly ONE YEAR after i’ve started to write here. It’s funny that i did not notice it at all untill one of my readers reminded me. I dont know what to say really. Do we need to have a birthday cake here? This above crystal cake for all crystal moments we had here together.. ;)

I don’t want to offer an extra dramatic lecture now. To be honest, Anniverseries are not that important. But i’d like to thank you all, my readers, commentators, bloggy friends for your being so nice.

I am so happy for creating Shahrzad (Shahee, Shaz, Shahi,..). It gave me an opportunity to meet wonderful people, disucss my thoughts and ideas with them and learn so much from them. I’ve also built beautiful friendships.

I really didnt have any idea that my blog will be loved. I put my effort  on my shoutbox to show other side of Iranian society and culture, far from the sterotypes of the media and political debates.

Have i been really successful to make a change in your Idea about Iran, Iranians and Iranian women? I ask you..

I have 223 posts, 35 pages, 61 posts in drafts -ahem!- contained within 95 categories and 47 tags. I have 4,107 total comments, 4,102 approved, 0 spam (hehe i delete all!) and 5 comments on awaiting moderation.

Since the 7th July 2007, i’ve had Total views of 142,641and my Busiest day was Wednesday, June 11, 2008 with 960 visitors!

  8. Zios Says:

Congrats Shahrzad!…good job…I think I started visiting your blog in July :-) . Iran always has a special bonding with Pakistan…and then talk about Hafiz, Rumi or Saadi.
Good Work…and good luck for the future :-) .

  11. Charlene Farber Says:

    happy blog anniversary!! :D

p.s. Yes, you greatly helped reshape my opinions and views of Iran. :) Must admit though, I have always had a more positive view of countries that are “enemies” of the States than anyone I have ever known; I don’t know why, maybe it is because I was always viewed as someone very odd, so anything foreign to my native culture has always interested me. :)

  12. Marahm Says:

Happy Anniversary! and YES, your blog has changed my perception of Iran. I look forward to the next year of reading your blog, and learning more and more about Iran and its people. Thank you.

  13. johnnypeepers Says:

Congratulations on 1 year of wonderful blog posts Shahrazad. You are one of my must-reads on WordPress.

Regarding your question as to changing minds about Iranian culture, people, and women, I feel you have played an integral part. As an American, I was inundated with anti-Iranian propaganda in the media since 1979. In the last year or so, I became curious and sought out alternative viewpoints. Your blog was one of the first I happened upon.

I appreciate your views, openness, and friendship. It is good to know that their are decent and kind people the world over, despite the desperate attempts of evil souls intent on dividing us.

  14. Cabby Says:

Happy Birthday! I also started blogging on 08/07/2007!

  15. Barbara Says:

Congratulations and God bless you and yours always dearest Shahrazad! I have truly enjoyed and appreciate the time you put into researching the vast topics you’ve shared. And yes, you did show the beautiful culture, spirituality of Islam and peoples of Iran. It’s such a relief (as a woman) to see that the women there can drive, go to the market, work to make an honest living and progress as contributing members of a society…and of course my Beloved Pir is from that beautiful land!

  16. Aafke Says:

Happy birthday! And you made me think very differently about Iran as well! So your blog is working!
And the friendship is working too! I’m very haapy to know you!
(How’s the calligraphy coming on?) :)

  17. gmcmissing Says:

well, I know I am late commer to your blog. But again I am glad that I managed to find your blog on the first birthday. So what if I could not read and comment on your blog during the past one year but I am sure we will make very good friendship on this blog.

I read a few of your entries. They amazing. They are entertaining as well as informative.

Please accept my heartfelt congratulations over the first birthday of your blog. Keep up the great work. I had falsely believed that people from Iran can’t speak or write a good English. But you have completely changed the misconceptions that existed in my mind formerly.

  18. عمار - aMmAr Says:

Congrats Shahz, your blog is simply great. Its not a big secret or is it :D I like your style of blogging, range of brainstorming topics that you pick for discussion And above all you portray the much needed and enlightened face of Islamic Women. And as a Muslim brother I am proud of you. May you have all the blessings of Allah, Prophet (PBUH) and His Ahl -e- Biat (AS). Ameen!

By the way your busiest day was Busiest day was Wednesday, June 11, 2008. My birthday ;) dats kewl :D

  19. damyanti Says:

This is a cool blog, and I am glad I found it. I have always been intrigued about the Arabic countries, because in Asia we only see hijab-clad women passing by. Never really met an Arab, now that I think of it. Would love to keep coming to your blog and seeing life as it is in Iran!

  20. Maryam Says:

Mabrook Alf-Mabrook … Long live Shazi, Long live her Blog … ;-)

  21. Shahrzad Says:

Zios, Thank you. Yes you were one of the first visitors here. I introduced Rumi and Hafiz. Good you reminded me of Sa’adi. I may have a post on him in the future. :)

‘liya, Thank you for your nice words. I love you too. Have nice time in your honeymoon.:D

Charlene Farber, Thank you so much. I really appreciate your being around. Not just as an american, i found a very smart woman in you at general. I like your viewpoint toward world. :)

Marahm, Thank you. Nice to hear that, and i try my best to make my blog more fruitful after that. :)

johnnypeepers, Thank you so much for your words. I am happy that my blog works. Unfortunately we dont have many Iranian sites which discuss culture and the society in English. Most of them are political, whether with or vs Islamic Republic of Iran.
Most people think that Iranians dont have their costum and culture or assume them Arab. I’d say most of my readers are from US, then Canada and the Europe and it shows people around the world really want to learn about others, but there are not enough sources ready for them to study. I see it absolutely fault of Iran and rest of muslim countries that do not provide reliable sources and are weak in the Media.

Cabby, Welcome to my blog and Thank you so much. Actually starting day of my blog is 07/07/2007. But i just remembered my blog birthday on 8th. :)

Barbara, aww, your comments always lighten my heart and refresh my mind. Which come from your beautiful soul. Thank you. Ameen for your dua and say my Salam to the wise Pir :)

Aafke, Haha, thank you my lovely Aafke. I am so happy to know you too and hope our friendship last forever. Calligraphies are in my Laptop now. I email you the rest, tonight. :)

gmcmissing, You’re very welcome here. Nowadays most families send their children to English Institutes. But still english is not that common in Iran. People learn the basic in schools, but they usually dont use it unless they go out the country. :)

aMmAr, Thank you and ameen.. I’d say that particular day, my post on Bush comical fotos made this number. lol “Nobody Loves This Guy”

damyanti, welcome to my blog and thank you so much for your comment. Iran is surrounded by Arab countries, and Iranians are muslim, but Iranians are not arab really. We both share many part of our lifestyle and some part of our culture with Arabs as most Middle Eastern people do. And there are Arab tribes who live in part of Southern Iran and Iranians who live in Arab countries. But Iranians are most contained of Persians(50%), then Azeris, Kurds, Lor, Gilaki, Mazani, Balouch, etc.. and our national official language is Farsi/Persian. :)

Maryam, Thank you, Alf thank you! lol
