I came across this link and I like to share it with you. So tell it in here; Where do you stand in this scale?
Where do the so called reformists in the streets of Iran fall in this scale?

I like to think myself as a pragmatist who does not stand for an act just to prove it is right.
Obviously the majority of those who orchestrated the rallies and demonstrations in Iran streets where mostly fanatics who assumed that because they lost the elections then something wrong happened.
It is interesting to notice how the reaction in the western media differs so much than that against Israel when it went bombing innocent children, destroying schools ,sport stadiums and hospitals in Gaza in such acts of cowardliness and the same crying sympathetic writers went silent to say the least.
Where do these fall in your scale?

Waw… that makes me a pragmatist? nooooooooo, I hate pragmatists

There is a bug in this list. The writer must be considering himself (m/f) as a pragmatist, because he only considers pragmatists as realists. In other words: if you either are a fanatic, a gullible believer, a cautious believer, a healthy skeptic, a nitpicker or a cynic, then according to his definition you’re living in lala-land, but are not connected to reality. Apparently a privilege only given to the pragmatist.

Wondering now whether someone who doesn’t put his trust in any idea, theory nor model, isn’t actually a pragmatic cynic.
OK, I’ll confess: I’m a cautious believer.

Well, I’ll call myself a pragmatist. To me the matter is whether something (system/rule/law) really works or not. For instance, the issue of Islamic banking system in my country. When it works, than it should be okay. But so far, the conventional system is still okay, and to me it’s more comfortable, so I support it. Life shouldn’t be made difficult when you can make it easier.

Unfortunately, I can’t find myself in this!
Moreover, I think what’s missing from this classification is that all people think they are ‘realist’ from their point of view regardless the scale they belong to.
Hereby Sharazad, I think the problem with us, humans, is simply narrow-minded mentalities nothing more!

In between cautious believer and pragmatist

Agreeing with Hicham.
Besides that, pragmatism and religious dogmatism do not combine. You can’t have strong faith in a certain prophet or saviour or devine entity and think ‘welll… as long as that theory works for me’ at the same time.

I think I might be either Pragmatist or Cautious Believer. This is very interesting, I also love to share my thoughts about culture and religion on my blog. Please check it if you have a time. I’m longing for a friend to discuss with.

Funny how more the opposite the extremes become, the more they become alike. I’d like to consider myself a healthy skeptic.
