I’m Nobody! Who are you?
Are you -Nobody- too?
Then there’s pair of us!
Don’t tell! they’d advertise- you know!
How dreary -to be- “Somebody”.. ….
Emily Dickinson
I am an Iranian woman and the blog is part of my daily thoughts. Subjects are so diverse. However, via short stories and sometimes long grumbling lectures, I share my feelings online about people and the world and of course the way of life in my strange and beautiful country..
Being a life learner helps me to find answer for my so many questions. I LoVe islam and i try to share my thoughts about it.
Sir Richard F. Burton describes Shahrzad or Scheherazade in his translation of The Nights:
“Shahrzad, Persian Queen, had perused the books, annals and legends of preceding Kings, and the stories, examples and instances of by gone men and things; indeed it was said that she had collected a thousand books of histories relating to antique races and departed rulers. She had perused the works of the poets and knew them by heart; she had studied philosophy and the sciences, arts and accomplish meets; and she was pleasant and polite, wise and witty, well read and well bred.”
I am not amazing storyteller like Shahrzad and i dont want to give review of her life. You believe that “There is no wealth like education and no poverty like ignorance.“? I just dont want to be poor ignorant. That’s all!
I chose her bcs she is symbol of nowadays free women in eastern countries, who seek to learn and think about people and they’re well aware of the events in the world.
They are pure, open mind, well educated and believer. They love to read books, learn and discuss different subjects. As much they’re wise and know what they want. They grow up everyday to take the wisdom of life and beyond.
And they’re still mysterious and feminine..

Wow~a persian!
Salam^^!i’m persian too, but…you’re the first person i see you love islam religion in Iran!this is the truth…
very very Nice blog.and i love your way of thinking about islam, your thoughs don’t make people afraid of Islam like what “akhoonda” say xD!(sorry i donno what “akhoond”s english word is)
Keep your nice thoughs, and please continue your way.^^your bloog is so helpfull~
btw:yeah,Shahrzad was a very precious woman in persian culture, but….i really wished i could see women like her on these years :/…..
July 21, 2007 at 10:05 pm
Dearest persian Raidex, i am so glad to meet you here, And thank you for your kind words. Akhoundha in english means Religious Scholars (most popular meaning) lol.
What i say in my weblog, that’s all i learnt from islam and other religions. I researched so much in religions and i believe all religions have ONE spirit. If i love islam, bcs i found it more complete than others, and if some akhounds are too severe or extrimist, it is their ego that rules them.
You know human can be very selfish. when he learns something, he thinks he is little God and can make his edicts. That’s why he falls people in hate. Anyway i just can hope for better world, and i know there are better days in the future..
I dont know if you can understand persian well ( for i didnt know you live in Iran now or not) , then i would write for you in persian..
BTW: If nowadays you dont find Shahrzad , you be Shahrzad of hearts..
July 21, 2007 at 10:27 pm
(thx for the ENG word of “akhoundha” xDD!i’m still searching to find that in dictionary though @.@;;)
Yeah*nodnod*all of religions have the some spirits,it’s just humans that make them look different with each other :/…
btw:i answered you complity in my blog honey,(sorry~too lazy to write all of that again here xD!)soo…..see you in my blog.^^and wish you best of luck with continueing this great way of blogging~

Are the poetry found on your site yours? I really like:
My God,
who can have tasted the sweetness of Your love,
then wanted another in place of You?
Who can have become intimate with Your nearness,
then sought removal from You?
Where is this from?

Beartracks, welcome to my blog. Really those poems i post in my blog all are mine.
But about “Today is Friday” post, they are some prayers that we muslims have in our books. The number 4 is part of a beautiful prayer named as “The Whispered Prayer of the Lovers” from Sahifa Al Sajadiyya (The psalms of Islam).

Dear Shahrzad, Salaam:
I just read your note on the ismailimail blog, about your interest in the diversity of Islamic traditions, including of course those closely related to Ithna Ashari Shi’ism. Within the context of Nizari Ismailism, I highly recommend reading some of the articles on the IIS web-site. In particular, I think you’d be interested in the Ethical Framework document, whose first page lays out various Shi’i concepts as a base for ethical conduct.
Ethical framework document:

Am I a writer? Yes, I do write milady; no, I am not waiting for a publisher!
I am a teacher in a university. I teach about cinema and Iran is a great garden of cinema, everyone knows that.
Abbas Kiarostami is my favorite one…like his films?
Always keeping a track on your writings through the wordpress blogsurfer.
October 3, 2007 at 6:13 pm
Dearest Shahrzaad, “all religions have one spirit” …and all paths lead to the same end. It’s beautiful how you see the similarities rather than the differences. All ‘religions’ when practiced by true seekers (even some of the unconsicous seekers) turn the ‘spirituality’ of each soul’s spark into a flame of love, and as they say in India, “namaste”
.
October 3, 2007 at 10:43 pm
the infidel.jihadist, Welcome, I have basic problem with theory of feminism. It just doesnt have harmony with my way of thinking. That’s all
I will visit your blog insha’allah..
Life’s Elsewhere, That’s beautiful you dont write for money.. Most famous writers were like this. May you be very well known writer. I am not in love with Teaching, yet i respect teachers much
Barbara, Thank you honey. For me religion is one, surrendering to God.. That’s religion of human beings before birth, now and in the hereafter..
October 5, 2007 at 1:18 pm
Dear Shahrzaad,
Congratulation on being selected for “Bloggers’ choice awards”. You deserve it.
All the best for you.
November 1, 2007 at 10:03 pm
Hi-
I found your site quite by acident, but was really intrigued. I’ve enjoyed reading it as it brings to mind various conversations i’ve ad over the years with irnaians both here and in the States. Frankly, I’m very differennt from you, but that makes life more interestig. i’m a male, an an older one at that (59). I am a christian, an archaeologist, and the father of two children (plus married to the same wonderful wife for 34 years). There are, however, some interesting intersections. I work in Turkey, have Iranian students and friends, have a whole groupp of colleagues who have worked in Iran, and (Inshallah) hope to someday come to Iran to see Persepolis and Susa, among other places. In any case, I enjoy dialoguing with interesting people and i thought this might be an interesting space to ask questions, learn from, and contribute to. Things being as they are, if you are not comfortable with that, I will certainly understand and follow the dialogue from a distance. I don’t have a personal websiste but you can get a feel for how I think about the world from the blog I have put together for the ministry I am involved in. In any case, I appreciate your comments and wish you the best in your quest.

Hi
I found your page on circumcision and it made me cry.
I do not share your faith, or any faith. I am just a person.
I am male, white and 65 and I don’t want to be hated.
My heart goes out to you and all who are oppressed and abused in this world.
Yes, wickedness may seem to be spreading but our kindness spreads also, so we must all be kind.
Power and love to you.
January 22, 2008 at 3:30 am

February 7, 2008 at 10:41 am
your blog is very interesting!
February 14, 2008 at 8:02 am
You have a beautiful community, Shahrazad. I love the poem you selected. If I hadn’t been reminded that it was by Emily Dickinson I would have said that it was by Rumi–mystery, confession and humor knotted together. Thanks.

Salaam,
Very good blog! Is this a teamwork?
I would like to do a link exchange but it seems you don’t use Blogroll !
Anyway, you are welcome to visit my blog and give me some advice.
March 26, 2008 at 7:37 am
Bless you Shahrzad,
I pray that communications will remain open to all for cross-border exchanges such as your site provides. There is a universality of human consciousness that is available now and has never been before. The dark forces are using their lies, propaganda, and minions to compel a clash of civilizations. It is all predicated on lies and deceit. Universal love will prevail thanks to the efforts of many who reject their aims.

Thanks

Parsin, I cut and paste. That’s the only way.

Hello; I am a Persian woman and I know my roots are there yet I am not defined by it. I don’t consider myself muslim- since I see Islam as oppressive and destructive. It is in our history and herstory. I don’t see a reason to defend Islam, since I don’t understand it and it is very foreign to me. I believe, Iran or Persia is multidimensional in that it holds many philosophers and poets whose hearts are timeless. Islam is only a small aspect of what brought about misery. When a religion comes around that teaches god has both female and male aspects and that their union is what wholeness is, then sign me up for it. Then again in my studies of Zartosht and Issa, I found that they both had the same message- yet it is lost or manipulated.

You seem like a very enlightened person, even from your list of traits that a perfect person has (I believe you said you wrote that when you were 18 – hopefully I will be just as thoughtful). Also, I fully agree that there is no greater poverty than ignorance.

I feel lucky to have come across your blog – Iran, the tales I’ve read of it, the great poets it gave birth to and all that….that has created a romantic notion about Iran
And I hope to learn about it through your blog.
Btw awesome blog (:

“Shahrzad”
I am afraid. I do not find you honest. You delete all comments against your points, even when they are polite, logical and based on clear facts.

Shahrzad,
Very interesting site and blog.
What are your thoughts on the life and teaching of Isa al-Masich as found in the Injil?
For me He is a never ending source of inspiration, strength, peace, joy and love.

Hello Shahrzad,
I’ve always been enjoying your blog that – though I often couldn’t agree with your opinion – has so many times given me the opportunity to see things from the other side of the mirror and gain, at least a little bit, of understanding of what is going on behind the news. I wanted to dearly thank you for making the effort of sharing. Thank you.
What I have been wondering and wanting to ask you lately: How do you perceive the “Nuclear Threat” of Iran towards Israel? So far I’ve only seen the Israeli and European version of this and I’d love to read about the other side here, too. Perhaps you could drop a few lines about it one day, I’d sure appreciate it!

Selam, Shahrazad;
I found your blog through one of your friends. Your blog is very impressive and contains interesting opinions.
I am a Chinese Muslim (Sunni) studying in the USA. You blog to me is refreshing as it gives the view not often heard in the controlled media – those voices which were never heard when Western powers were clamoring to install Mousavi!
You are cordially invited to visit my blog at

Hello, I’m an Iranian woman and I have an 18-year old (young) daughter. She wants to get the following sentence tattooed on her back, but she would like to have it done in Farsi. My handwriting in Farsi and English is horrible. I see that you have beautiful penmanship. Do you think you could write this sentence in Farsi then scan and email it to me? I don’t know anyone else that could do this for me. Thank you so much!!!! Here it is:

Salaam alaikum,
I am very glad to finally meet (though not in real life) a practicing Iranian muslim. Unfortunately where I lived before the Iranians were bad people, very bad. I hope that you contribute to my blog as well. Keep up the good work. BTW I like Persian food every once in a while. A few weeks ago I had kishk bazinjaan…. very tasty.

Hi,
I read your post regarding the change in Iranian law with reference to marry a non-Iranian. The link is not working, could you please send me a link. Also if you tell what papers are required that will be very helpful.
Kind regards,
